I really should take the time to compile all these foundations into an easy guide...
Today, I was fortunate to meet some of the amazing individuals who founded and work for the
Dream Street Foundation.
Their mission statement simply is: "Our purpose is to provide a unique camping program, free of charge, to children with chronic or life-threatening diseases."
The foundation is made entirely of volunteers who spend a week of their time giving a chance to children to experience a summer camp. Medical personal donate their time, the campers can eat whatever they want, and they can have fun all week long with each other, succeeding in things they only dreamed of. There's only good times at this camp.
I feel so fortunate that through my summer work I have been able to meet so many selfless people. It really changes how you look at life and makes me want to achieve their level of giving. The camp set up is so cheerful and fun. Popcorn machines were overflowing with goods, pizza, and bowels of candy. An entire arcade and dance floor was set up outside for the campers to enjoy. Newly tie-dyed shirts lined the crafts area and everyone was getting ready for the pool. The perfect summer weather and happy volunteers and campers made it just a perfect setting.
As always, if your hearts and wallets feel inclined, please feel free to donate - the information is at the link above. I know that this is another foundation I'm adding to my list of donations.

As a heads up, if you head over to the March of Dimes webpage and make a donation tonight/tomorrow, it will be matched, dollar for dollar for "Be a Hero for Babies" day. Please pass this information on to everyone who know who would like to help make a difference with the leading nonprofit for pregnancy and infant health.----------------------------------------

If you've been reading my journal, you might notice a trend in the foundations I tend to support: Elizabeth Glacier Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Arthritis Foundation (Juvenile), March of Dimes, to name a few. If you know of any other foundations that benefit children, please let me know. I'm always looking for more ways to help the next generation. If you are looking for foundations to donate to, please let know as well - I'd love to help you look for the foundation that's right for you.
